Tomáš, Radim and Hynek - friends and classmates at the college in Žilina are thinking that after finishing school it would not be bad to start a new life with their own company. With the generous support of Slovak friends: Igor, Miro and Igor, iMi Partner was created. Selling stationery and advertising pens seems like a great idea in a hungry, still post-revolutionary market.
It works, but pens are not enough, the market wants more. But how do you get to the goods, which mostly come from China? He is definitely sailing to Europe by sea. "We'll go to Holland, there are big ports." It's decided. In the age of payphones, Yellow Pages and telephones that end in a cord in the wall. Pencil scribbled list of companies. One of them is the right one, and within two years, iMi Partner becomes one of its biggest customers.
Companies want advertising and advertising must be printed. This also applies to pens and many other items. A custom printer is born in iMi. From the original trio, Hynek embarks on his own spiritual journey to India, and the rule over iMi remains in the hands of the inseparable duo Radim and Tom for many years.
Tomáš goes to fairs in Taiwan and Hong Kong. There he meets another classmate and friend who has settled there and can help open new horizons for iMi. Why import goods through intermediaries, let's try it ourselves. iMi is gaining more customers and continues to grow with them. A limited liability company becomes a joint stock company.
The first container full of original goods at good prices from China arrives in the Czech Republic. The range of goods is already so wide and original on the Czech market that it needs to be properly presented to all potential customers. iMi publishes its first catalog of promotional items. It is necessary to extend the claws a little further from Brno, the first iMi branch is being created - in Prague. For now, with a modest cast, which is gradually expanding.
Who would have thought that five years after selling the first pens to a stationery store somewhere, iMi would be celebrating a turnover of 105 million. The dream of owning a large company is starting to turn into reality.
iMi ventures into its own merchandise under its own brand. The first knives receive the Schwarzwolf brand and the howling wolf logo, which calls to the company further success. The foundation of the future complete outdoor collection is laid. The originality of the complete range of other goods is underlined by the first square catalogue, and the company is approaching other customers. A branch is established in Ostrava and Warsaw. iMi goes beyond borders.
The Brno head office moves from modest rented premises to its own generous premises. New times demand new technologies, so iMi enters the market with its own website, where it presents its complete offer. Direct purchases from China are gaining in volume, so iMi is opening its own office in Hong Kong.
iMi Partner invests capital in the original parent company iMi Trade in Slovakia and introduces the ESO9 information system for company management. The number of satisfied customers is growing - turnover exceeds 200 million for the first time. Creativity and originality are also appreciated by the jury of the Hvězda 3D advertising competition, and the prestigious award goes to a city backpack for the then mobile operator Eurotel and specially designed minutes for Pickwick teas.
due to health problems of the owner, iMi Partner takes over a major competitor - the Prague company MOARIS GROUP - and thus expands its product range with an extensive range of calendars and diaries. The Prague branch is moving to a new headquarters and the number of its employees is growing by leaps and bounds to 25. At the same time, another branch is being established - this time in Pilsen.
The branch in the north of Moravia is doing well and the premises are no longer enough. A new residence needs to be found and a big move follows.
The premises of the Brno campus allow the much-needed expansion of the printing house. New technologies are emerging, it is possible to limit the number of subcontractors and offer customers own services.
iMi works as a team where every member is equally important and feedback from all collaborators is the most valuable. Therefore, the new periodic evaluation of employees is based on 360° feedback. For greater customer comfort, a new website is being launched.
One of the two iMi hearts stopped unexpectedly... Tomáš remains at the head of the company alone. What's next?
iMi continues with unchanged energy, customers receive the best possible service and an offer of more than 25 thousand items. It is building a new warehouse and thus fundamentally expanding the warehouse space for imports from China.
The global financial crisis is reflected in iMi's historically largest turnover of CZK 345 million.
iMi Partner takes over the Pen Ryvan company from Liberec, whose owner cannot continue to work for the company due to health reasons. Another branch is thus created. The first customer e-shop starts working on the iMi website.
iMi becomes Arton behalf of the Czech Republic in the international association of 3D advertising IPPAG (www.ippag.net)
The Schwarzwolf brand in the iMi family is complemented by a brand that smells of kitchen and rest - Vanilla Season. Like Schwarzwolf, it's getting its own catalog. iMi becomes a founding shareholder and service partner for the Czech Republic of the company Prominate, whose goal is to provide corporate client headquarters with global solutions and at the same time local service in the field of advertising items in all markets.
Participation in the Stars of 3D Advertising competition brings an extraordinary amount of awards - one first, two second, one third place and three unconverted nominations. A great year full of ideas is also reflected in a shift in business strategy to focus more on consumer competitions and sales promotion. Many clients appreciate the new offer of modern customer e-shops.
As part of the company's 20th anniversary celebration, almost the entire company completes the ritual of crossing hot coals, which strengthens the awareness of one's own strength and the discovery of a world of infinite possibilities. iMi launches its own intranet called iMipedia, thanks to which all employees have access to all important internal information. The printer continues to be modernized and the first digital transfer starts. Traders undergo long-term training in trading techniques.
iMi is undergoing a major change. The circle in the logo no longer allows for further growth, the company name must be liberated and given a three-dimensional form. The new logo contains symbols for growth, creativity, teamwork, stability, reliability, flexibility and friendliness. Just the new iMi.
Another one is added to the family of specialized catalogs - this time with the world name of a famous fashion designer and designer. iMi Partner becomes the exclusive license holder for the sale of office supplies with the Pierre Cardin logo in most European countries.
Within the company, the sales department is being fundamentally restructured with the strengthening of teamwork. He works with former Microsoft Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) president Jan Mühlfeit to set up individual roles and work with iMi's strengths.
For 25 years of the company's existence, iMi gives itself a gift to share with its customers. Under the guidance of writer Josef Formánek, a book of deeply human stories is being created that would never have happened without this company. The authors are employees of the company, including its owner. The book is a success among customers, who are often surprised by the openness of some statements.
The establishment of another branch follows tradition – the owner of the competing company Bess MM cannot continue in business due to health reasons, so the sales team takes over iMi and establishes its representative office in Teplice. iMi also becomes a holder of the Silver Ecovadis award, which opens the door to a number of foreign corporations.
The whole world is affected by the covid pandemic, but iMi manages the critical year with honor. It operationally changes the assortment to the much-needed medical aids and thus saves a significant part of the turnover, which is falling sharply due to the dampening of the activity and the drastic reduction of the marketing costs of most customers.
iMi can calculate the carbon footprint of its own branded products and decides to offset it by planting new trees. Thanks to the sazimestromy.cz program, hundreds of them are growing all over the Czech Republic, and the company's employees continue to bet every year during joint events.
